I started following The Natural Way of eating about 14 years ago and have been "fine tuning" this ever since. Before discovering The Natural Way, I tried all sorts of diets to put a stop to my binge eating and cravings - I was an obsessive/emotional eater. I was a chocoholic and I loved pastries with cream plus breads and cakes; I craved salty no-no's as well, and I was moody and tended towards depression & weepiness without warning, with my coping skills deserting me at any time! I had the ability to "inhale" a whole slab of chocolate in minutes, followed by a bag of crisps, some biltong and still my kitchen cupboard would call me.
What I love the most about this Natural Way of living is that the moodiness and depression are a thing of the past, as are the cravings and bingeing. I used to take 2 hours to fall asleep every night; now, my head hits the pillow and I am in dream world. And NEVER would I have believed that upon being offered a tin of condensed milk OR a salad, I will devour the salad and have no desire for condensed milk. I am often asked how much weight I lost, but it's not what I lost - it's the 3kg per year I didn't gain (for the past 14 years). What I did gain was improved health, energy, and mental clarity. And I save a fortune financially - anyone who binge eats knows how much cravings cost, never mind medical bills for ill health, mentally and physically.
Apart from my Natural Nutrition studies, I have a degree in Psychology (and Criminology!) and have completed an NLP practitioner's course. I believe I have helped far more people, mentally, by changing their eating habits and way of life, than I would have by purely practicing psychology. The psychology background helps when changing someone's eating habits because one needs to change their minds as well. Good food is vital, but alone it may not be enough; people also need personal development, self help and lifestyle tools.
I conduct nutrition and lifestyle consultations; I give talks, lectures and workshops. I loved hosting cookery demonstrations for Mary-Ann Shearer (author of The Natural Way books) when she had her Natural Way shop at the Randburg Waterfront. Since May 2003, I have hosted healthy cooking and raw food demonstrations at my house and other venues - I teach people HOW to make healthy TASTY food. I am an agent and demonstrator of Magimix Food processors. I stock health foods/items/books including Mary-Ann's range of products, Aim products and Superfoods (to make raw organic chocolates!). For the past 5 years I have lectured on nutrition at JAFFAE (Johannesburg Academy of Finishing and Etiquette) - a finishing school in Greenside and Pretoria, South Africa. I am a lecturer at Equilibria Refinement School in Potchefstroom, South Africa.
I am passionate about what I do and I feel blessed to be able to share this with as many people as possible. (You cannot imagine how good it feels to see a young girls' skin clear up, or a couple who have been battling and now have a healthy baby, or someone fitting into their "thin" clothes again, somebody else who is no longer depressed - the list goes on!). I feel it is my calling and my duty to spread the Word of health to the world - this is my Being talking - not my ego!
